Back to Making Tax Simpler

Welcome

Do you earn salary or wages from your job?  Or interest and dividends from New Zealand companies?

The Government wants to make tax easier for you and wants to know what you think about the way it proposes to do this.

This is part of an overall modernisation of the tax system to make it simpler and more certain, so it fits seamlessly into people’s lives.

The proposals would make it easier for you to know if you have to do anything at the end of each tax year. They would also make it easier for Inland Revenue to help you move onto the right tax code during the year.

This online forum outlines the proposed changes and asks for your feedback. It is your opportunity to give us your views.

If you want more information you can also download the full discussion document Making Tax Simpler: Better administration of Individuals’ income tax or a summary.

Please consider the proposals and tell us what you think. You can answer the questions found in sections of the website, or email your feedback to Policy.Webmaster@ird.govt.nz .

This consultation is open until Friday 28 July 2017.
